HT: Pirates 2-0 Polokwane

Orlando Pirates lead Polokwane City 2-0 at halftime of their MTN8 quarter-finals on Saturday afternoon.

New signings Sihle Ndluli, Sipho Mbule and Oswin Appollis got their debut for the Buccaneers, whose tenure under coach Abdeslam Ouaddou officially kicked off.

Appollis turned up against his former employers in the 12th minute as he made a run into the area and tucked into the bottom-corner, with Boitumelo Radiopane picking up the assist.

Rise and Shine were rattled after falling behind to their more fancied counterparts from Soweto, but thereafter gradually managed to regain momentum.

However, Appollis haunted them again when he drew a foul from Lebohang Nkaki to win a penalty-kick, which Patrick Maswanganyi duly converted from 12-yards out.

With the halftime interval on the horizon, the Buccaneers’ lead was not in any sort of danger, leaving Rise and Shine with their backs to the wall.
