Orlando Pirates take on Mamelodi Sundowns in a mouthwatering MTN8 semi-final first-leg at Orlando Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
It’s been a troubled start to the Betway Premiership season for the Buccaneers following back-to-back losses – the latest in midweek against Marumo Gallants FC.
As reigning champions of the MTN8, the Soweto giants made a strong showing in the final eight with a 2-0 win over Polokwane City.
Sundowns bounced back from the opening day draw with Chippa United to record a 2-0 victory over AmaZulu on Tuesday night, registering their first win of the season in the Premiership.
Masandawana’s progression to the semi-finals was plain sailing after thrashing Richards Bay FC 4-0.
The Buccaneers and Masandawana’s last semi-final clash in this tournament came in 2022, with the former coming out victorious.
Also, the Sea Robbers were on the winning side against Masandawana in the recent clash between the two in the Premiership back in March.
