Motale hits back at Ouaddou detractors

Orlando Pirates legend Edward 'Magents' Motale has opened up on the capability of head Abdeslam Ouaddou after back-to-back losses in the Betway Premiership.

Ouaddou had a winning start in the MTN8 quarter-finals after a 2-0 win over Polokwane City but the Moroccan coach had a worst start in the Premiership after defeats against Sekhukhune United and Marumo Gallants.

There are already sections of Pirates supporters calling for the dismissal of the former Gallants coach.

Motale, however, believes the Moroccan should be afforded the benefit of the doubt.

"Me, I'm saying let's give the coach a chance to establish himself," Motale said, speaking to KickOff.com.

The former AS Vita mentor has been criticized, in the main, for making too many changes in the regular line-up that was used to winning under former coach Jose Riveiro.

Ouaddou has thrown in a number of new signings at the deep end, the likes of Tshepo Mashiloane, Sihle Nduli, Sipho Mbule and Oswin Appollis, with his preferred striker Boitumelo Radiopane, who was not a regular last season, factors which have angered the majority of the fan base.

"There's nothing wrong (with changes in the line-up) because I hear people say, why, why, why but every coach has got his own methodology," Motale argued.

"So, he's trying to implement his own methodology. (Miguel) Cardoso also came to Sundowns, he lost two games (struggled early in the CAF Champions League), nobody said anything, because he was establishing his methodology. He's winning now, nobody is saying anything.

"Pitso (Mosimane), you name the best coaches in the world. Sir Alex Ferguson came to Manchester (United), he struggled the whole the season and the next season he won everything. So let's give him (Ouaddou) a chance to establish what he wants to build," 'Magents' insisted.

Defending champions Pirates will host Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 semifinal first leg on Saturday afternoon at Orlando Stadium.
