Mamelodi Sundowns' Pitso Mosimane identifies Cape Town City's main threats ahead of MTN8 battle

City and Sundowns lock horns in the MTN8 first leg semi-final at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday (15h00), in what should be a cracking game between two sides that always give each other a tough time.

“We have a very good, highly organised [opponent]. Chalk and cheese from what happened yesterday [against Highlands Park], to what’s going to happen on Saturday. They are a team that plays from the back, builds up well and they have a good coach. They are a good group that has been together for two or three years, so it’s not going to be easy,” Mosimane said during a press conference at the PSL offices in Parktown, Johannesburg on Thursday.

City have a number of players who can cause problems for Sundowns; the likes of Craig Martin, Riyaad Norodien, Siphelele Mthembu and Ayanda Patosi. Their fullbacks Thamsanqa Mkhize and Edmilson Dove also enjoy getting forward, which is something Sundowns need to look out for.

In the middle of the park, the Citizens can rely on Thabo Nodada and Roland Putsche to always put in a solid shift.

“Putsche, Nodada, Mkhize at right-back, [Taariq] Fielies, and the new West African defender [Kouassi Kouadja] at the back," Mosimane mentioned, as he spoke about who he expects to see in the line-up.

“Whether they have the Mozambican [Edmilson] at left-back or [Ebrahim] Seedat, the new goalkeeper [Peter Leeuwenburgh] from overseas looks good. That’s the team we expect to see tomorrow. We know the team and I think Benni can name my team the way I am naming his team.”
