Mamelodi Sundowns' Lucky Mohomi: Proper football on the cards against Chippa United in MTN8

Mohomi knows Chippa coach Dan Malesela’s style all too well having worked under him at Garankuwa United in the First Division during the 2013-14 season.

“This Sunday it will be football and I mean proper football,” Mohomi tells snl24.com/kickoff.

“A team that is coached by coach Dan plays football and there is never any doubts or questions about that. He loves his teams to keep the ball, play it and by play it I mean do it the Barcelona way of having everyone moving on the field with no one walking. He wants the ball to move, he loves the short-passing game, he loves spreading the ball, he loves to see his team keeping the ball while moving… he loves good football.

“So I think with him having coached me before I believe I know about his philosophy well enough to be able to go there prepared to deal and handle all that he has planned for us,” details Mohomi.

Even Pitso Mosimane, the Sundowns coach, is well acquainted with Malesela having both played in the same era.

“We have been practising how to handle their style of play all week long because coach Pitso also knows Dan too well because I think even from their playing days they belong to the same era. As you know our coach is always well informed about the opposition and plans that way,” he adds.

Mohomi, who left Free State Stars in the off-season, made his Downs debut in the MTN8 quarter-final victory over SuperSport United by replacing Tiyani Mabunda at Loftus Versveld Stadium.
