Mamelodi Sundowns defender Mosa Lebusa looks set to make his first appearance for the club

Lebusa is yet to make his debut for Sundowns since joining them from Ajax Cape Town, but could finally make a first appearance in a city he knows very well from his days with the Urban Warriors.

Mosimane recently spoke about how Lebusa had to get used to the system at Sundowns, which is different to the one at Ajax, while there’s also the challenge of the player not being able to train a lot with the team because of the tight schedule of fixtures.

Lebusa could get an opportunity to play as a left-sided central defender after Brazilian Ricardo Nascimento was sent off in the Absa Premiership clash against Highlands Park at Loftus Stadium on Wednesday night.

“Lebusa will be part of the team going to Cape Town. He has not had a run,” Mosimane said.

“He is compromised because he came when our programme already started. You must remember at Sundowns if you miss two or three weeks, because we don’t have pre-season, I have to try find a place where I can put you with a little bit of training because we don’t train [much]. So when am I going to see him play?

“We played a small friendly during midweek and he played, but the resistance was not good for me to measure. But I have to go with the concept of who he is and what he is capable of. I have to believe and trust, because if I don’t then why did I go get him. Probably he might play in Cape Town, but I can guarantee he will be on the bench.

“I think he can do well against [Matthew] Rusike, against [Ayanda] Patosi.”
