Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane rues lack of attack in MTN8 loss to Maritzburg United

The Brazilians opened the 2017/18 campaign with a shock 1-0 loss against the Team of Choice at Lucas Moripe Stadium this weekend as Evans Rusike struck the only goal of the game shortly before the hour mark in Tshwane.

And Mosimane admits his side’s inability to find the back of the net cost them the game, telling SuperSport TV: “You have to put the ball in the back of the net.

“If you score first, you have more chance because you can retain the ball, but they [Maritzburg] scored first on the break and I [said before the game] that it is going to be like that, but it’s the story of your lives.

“They [Maritzburg] are quicker, they are faster, but we played better, we had the ball.”

He continued: “We control the game the whole day and we tried to go to the sides with the full-backs, we tried the combination play, we tried the crosses; we threw everything, the kitchen sink, the cups, but it’s going to be like that - as long as you don’t break the ice [score first, it’s tough to win].”
