Motshwari made his debut for The Buccaneers as he reunited with former Bidvest Wits teammate Xola Mlambo in central midfield against SuperSport on Saturday evening.
While the penalty-shootout defeat may have been a bitter pill to swallow for the Serbian tactician, some positives could be taken from some of the individual displays.
The 27-year-old Motshwari, who managed just 11 appearances at Milpark last season, left a good impression on Sredojevic, who has welcomed the added competition in the middle of the park.
“Having in mind that it’s his first match [because] in his previous team he had not played, he [Motshwari] really stepped in and gave a good performance, considering he had no match fitness,” said 'Micho'.
“It is his first match and he has shown that he is increasing the pool of players that will compete in central midfield for us throughout the season.
“In conclusion, not only him but even others have shown something that we have demanded from them – spirit, facial language, body language, they really wanted [to win].
“However, football didn’t give us what we expected and we’re disappointed but we’re moving on.”
Pirates are set to host The Clever Boys in their next encounter on Wednesday evening, with the technical team now left to ponder on whether Motshwari should retain his place following his 120-minute outing over the weekend.
