Segolela is part of a team in North West that has been renamed Platinum City Rovers, which began its campaign in the ABC Motsepe League with a clash against Stilfontein Real Hearts.
Real Hearts are under the tutelage of former Buccaneers midfielder Brandon Silent, who donned the famous black jersey a generation before Segolela earned cult hero status in Parktown.
The two sides drew 1-1 at Alabama Stadium in their first league match in North West on Wednesday, and 'Sox' enjoyed the meeting with another Bucs legend.
"Once a pirate, always a pirate. I was looking forward to meeting Sigcebhezane," Segolela tells snl24.com/kickoff.
The 33-year-old says Platinum City Rovers are gunning for promotion to the GladAfrica Championship next season.
"The province is starved of professional football. We want to use this project to revive football and change many lives in the North West province," he says.
"We have a long-term project with the people of North West and hence the name change to Platinum City Rovers, and we want to plough back to the community through football.
"We have set our short-term goal of taking the team to the GladAfrica Championship next season."
