Maritzburg extend unbeaten run at winless Baroka

Upington City 2-3 Orbit College FC

New boys Orbit College FC continued to lead the way at the top of the Motsepe Foundation Championship standings with a hundred percent record courtesy of a 3-2 victory over Upington City on Saturday.

The front-runners trailed early on as Wille Nel made the breakthrough, but bounced back just before the interval and entered the break with their noses in front.

In the midst Carl Lark's finish for the host, Orbit weathered the storm to claim the full complement of points and keep their perfect start intact.

Baroka FC 0-0 Maritzburg United

Maritzburg United were unable to record back-to-back wins in the Motsepe Foundation Championship to stay level with the pace-setters following a goalless draw against Baroka FC on Sunday.

The Team of Choice edged Casric Stars last Friday, while Bakgaga Ba Ga Mphahlele headed to the match on the back-foot following a 1-0 loss to JDR Stars.

Bakgaga are still winless and down in troubled territory on the table, as the Team of Choice lose a bit of ground with the front-runners.

Pretoria Callies 0-0 JDR Stars

Pretoria Callies and JDR Stars played to a disappointing goalless draw in the Tshwane derby in Friday's Motsepe Foundation Championship action.

It's also a fourth draw running for the Romans, whereas the Hammerboys missed the chance to build on their maiden win last weekend against Baroka FC.

Casric Stars 2-0 Hungry Lions FC

Hungry Lions FC dropped points for the first time this season following a disappointing 2-0 loss to Casric Stars at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium.

The host got the opener late in the first half through Parsley Fielies and made sure of the points midway in the second stanza courtesy of Ofentse Thloloe's finish.

Magesi FC 2-0 Black Leopards

Black Leopards lost for the third time in succession as Magesi FC claimed a 2-0 victory in the Limpopo derby down at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

It took the host just four minutes to go ahead through Bafedile Baloyi's decent finish before Mcedi Vanadala, who was on target in the win over NB La Masia last week got the second.

The victory is not only Magesi's second in a row but takes them within two points of the table-toppers Orbit College.

Venda Football Academy 1-0 Platinum City Rovers

Venda Football Academy finally got their campaign off the mark and registered a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Platinum City Rovers.

Former Chippa United midfielder Athini Jodwana set the host on their way with the opener in the middle of the first half and gave Rovers a mountain to climb.

The latter weren't able to bounce back following the resumption and slumped to a second straight defeat of the season in the Championship.

Marumo Gallants FC 1-0 Milford Stallions FC

Marumo Gallants FC earned their first win of the season in the second-tier with a narrow 1-0 victory over the basement dwellers Milford Stallions FC.

The winner came in the middle of the first half from new signing Cyrille Nguessan, as the loss leaves Milford without a win, three successive losses and yet to find the net too.

University of Pretoria 0-0 NB La Masia

University of Pretoria and NB La Masia cancelled out each other after playing to a goalless stalemate at the Tuks Stadium out in the nation's capital.

The point apiece leaves both sides hovering in the mid-table with one win each from four matches played to date.
