Jomo Sono confident of promotion push with Jomo Cosmos

Following their impressive start to 2020/21 season, Ezenkosi now find themselves dropping down the GladAfrica Championship table as they currently sit in eighth place.

Cosmos recently suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Polokwane City, leaving Sono's charges seven points behind league leaders Richards Bay.

"We would have not won in that game even if we played for two months," Sono tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"We had no team there. Six of our players were out with injuries and suspensions. I used strikers as defenders. To be honest we were lucky, they should have scored seven. We were hoping for a draw.

"All I'm saying is whoever wants to rule us out of the championship is doing it at his own peril because once our players return, we will be back to normal, we will be strong again. I'm still in the race for one, two, three. Don't rule me out. No, don't rule us out.

"There were reasons why we lost to the likes of Bizana [Pondo Chiefs]. To lose your top players in 20 minutes, it's not easy. So don't rule us out. Don't rule us out of competing."
