Dondol Stars coach hits out at officiating

Dondol Stars co-head coach Vincent Rammoni was unhappy with the officiating during his side's defeat to Umsinga United in the ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs.

Stars were beaten 2-1 by hosts Umsinga United in their playoff encounter at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Wednesday after goals by Thabani and Thobani Mthembu.

Rammoni was shown a red card late in the match after protesting what he believed should have been a penalty for his side.

"I'm not happy with how the officials are officiating the game," Rammoni said post-match.

"The yellow card that we got, yes it was a well-deserved second yellow but the first one when my centre back got booked? No, I still need to go and watch the clip because from where I was sitting, I'm 100% sure that was not supposed a bookable offence."

"Then in the second goal, funny enough right after it was awarded I said to the assistant referee that it's fine that they've awarded and we respect the decision.

"The funny thing about the game is that the very same situation can go and happen at the opposite side of the pitch and you will see the results. Within seven minutes it happened on the opposite side but now the results (call by referee) are different in similar incident."

"But it's fine. They (match officials) are also human beings. I'm just going to say if it that was an honest mistake then okay, we take it but they need to improve their department.

"If that was not an honest mistake and it was deliberate, then I say we shouldn't cry when South African football is not growing and our national team is not doing well."

Meanwhile Umsinga ran riot in their second match with a 7-1 thrashing of Buffalo to book a spot in the semi-finals.
