More exits looming at Sundowns

With the seven exits already confirmed, Mamelodi Sundowns are understood to be finalising the possible exits of several more players ahead of the new season.

The Brazilians returned for their pre-season preparations this week after a brief break following their FIFA Club World Cup campaign in the United States earlier this month.

The Chloorkop-based side had already confirmed that Sanele Tshabalala, Thabang Sibanyoni, Sifiso Ngobeni, Lucas Suarez and Sipho Mbule have left the club. Ricardo Coetzee, Lebo Maboe and Thabang Sibanyoni were also added to that list.

However, information reaching this publication is that several more players are at risk ahead of the new season.

Winger Kobamelo Kodisang is among those believed to be headed for the exit door. The speedy winger's surprise move to Sundowns at the start of the season has not yielded the desired results.

At a move may be best for all parties concerned. Kodisang is reported to be heading back to Portugal. He made just 13 appearances last season.

Next up is Thapelo Maseko - the 21-year-old has long been linked with a move away from Sundowns, having not had the best time under new head coach Miguel Cardoso.

Maseko made 14 appearances last season, all of which were from the bench. Sundowns are reportedly open to a loan move for the winger.

On what may be a surprise entry is the future of striker Peter Shalulile. The Namibian hitman could be among those who leave the club before the season starts.

'Shasha' played just 13 minutes at the FIFA Club World Cup, with new arrival Lebo Mothiba favoured in the number nine role. The lethal striker scored 11 goals in his 48 matches last season.

Shalulile has also been previously linked with a move away from Downs, and at 31, the Betway Premiership champions, and Shalulile himself, could be best served heading down different paths.

Meanwhile, the Betway Premiership champions will begin their 25/26 season with an MTN8 clash against Richards Bay.
