The former Bafana Bafana coach's initial deal with the Tshwane giants is set to expire in June this year, along with that of coach Manqoba Mngqithi.
Komphela served as senior coach at Sundowns, before leaving the league champions to take up a new challenge at the Dube Birds at the beginning of the season.
Despite having left the club last year, the Brazilians are believed to be continuing to pay his salary until the end of his contract at Chloorkop.
"The coach's contract is only expiring in June this year.
"The agreement was that Mamelodi Sundowns would continue to pay his salary until the expiry date of his contract.
"The arrangement to join Moroka Swallows was more of a loan move," said a source close to both parties.
The well-travelled coach is currently in charge of Golden Arrows after leaving Swallows in January this year following turmoil in camp related to financial issues.
The former Kaizer Chiefs mentor's contract with the KwaZulu-Natal-based side is set to expire at the end of next month, with the club still hopeful of sneaking into the Top Eight ahead of the likes of Amakhosi and Polokwane City.

Abafana Bes'thende are set to host already relegated Cape Town Spurs in Hammarsdale on Saturday, before entertaining AmaZulu FC in a KwaZulu-Natal Derby on the last day of the season, May 25.
