Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has responded to the multitude of questions emanating from the failure to introduce Themba Zwane in the CAF Champions League final against Pyramids FC.

Sundowns missed a chance to win their second star in the Champions League after being handed a 3-2 defeat on aggregate by Pyramids FC in Cairo on Sunday evening.

They struggled to break the Egyptian side's resolute defence, which stood firm and thwarted almost all the attempts aimed at goalkeeper Ahmed El Shenawy.

The Tshwane giants brought in striker Lebohang Mothiba in a bid to solidify their attack in the second half, but the effort was in vain as Pyramids went on to claim their first Champions League title in history.

However, with all that happened in the two-legged tie, it was the absence of a player who has gained legendary status at Chloorkop that raised eyebrow.

For both clashes, the Tembisa-born star was an unused substitute.

“I totally understand what kind of answer you want or you're looking for,” said Cardoso when asked by a journalist in the post-match press conference at 30 June Stadium.

“But it's not time to speak about individual performances of players, this group has qualified and has a lot of quality players and Themba Zwane is one of them,” he added.

Sundowns are expected to return to South Africa on Monday and start preparing for the FIFA Club World Cup.

They open their campaign at the global tournament with a clash against Ulsan HD of Korea Republic on June 18.
