Cardoso: Beautiful goals, good performance

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso says the players carried out the halftime message very well following the 2-0 win over Cape Town City.

The Brazilians marched to yet another victory to edge closer to the title as goals either half from Tashreeq Matthews and Iqraam Rayners overcame the Citizens.

As such, Masandawana are 12-points ahead of Orlando Pirates who are hot on their heels from second-place with the season nearing an end.

“Amazing and again a very good performance again. Not an easy game, first half quite tricky we had to make some corrections in our positioning at halftime – message was well received. Second half, I think we coped even more – beautiful goals, good performance,” Cardoso told SuperSport TV.

“The boys are really fighting for what they want so much, we really committed for every match and now its go for next one and next one and try to well try to get it. But we need to respect everybody because the next opponent will again be a very tough one,” he added.

Much of the performances the team have shown over the years and continue to do on all fronts comes from the humility amongst all with Marcelo Allende a reference point.

This has made the coach proud to be associated with the club, but noted the importance of their final league matches as ‘cup finals’.

“I think we are a humble team and humility it’s not a bad value not too much if it’s too much of course it’s not proper but having it in the right sense understanding step-by-step it’s how you make a career working hard,” Cardoso said.

“That’s what my boys are doing – Marcelo is obviously one of them – a high-quality player but it’s beautiful to see how they remain humble. We made some corrections at halftime.

“I told them there’s something that are not ok and they tried to do it immediately in the second half and we got a goal because of that.

“I’m a very proud coach, proud of the club where I work, proud of the family that supports this club or the values that we grow and also proud of the work of the boys, my staff.

“The staff around us but still a lot to fight, still a lot to fight. We have four finals to play let’s focus on the next one now,” he continued.
