Betway Premiership leaders Mamelodi Sundowns secured a 2-0 win over Cape Town City on Saturday evening.
Ronwen Williams, Thapelo Morena and Mosa Lebusa returned and replaced Denis Onyango, Khuliso Mudau and Malibongwe Khoza from the win over Richards Bay FC.
Both sides made a strong start as the Citizens looked to return to winning ways and get their campaign up and running once again amidst their fight against relegation.
Sundowns were more eager to the opener a little later and carved out a chance through a snap shot from the area by Aubrey Modiba, but goalkeeper Darren Keet was equal to the effort.
Modiba turned provider midway in the opening half when he got wide to tee-up Iqraam Rayners for a header in the box, but the forward disappointingly snapped his lines.
The pressure took its toll on the Citizens, who succumbed ten minutes befor the break when Tashreeq Matthews made the most of a cross from Rayners to beat Keet with ease.
City were energised after the halftime break, which nearly resulted in the leveller after a snap shot by Thabo Nodada on the edge of the box sailed just over the crossbar..
There were more chances for the league leaders a little later as Lucas Ribeiro lined-up for a free-kick outside the box, but he sent his effort inches off the intended target.
Matthews continued to prove key within the final 20 minutes and struck the upright with a penetrative shot from the left of the six-yard box.
Sundowns eventually added a second goal in the last 12 minutes when Rayners latched onto a through pass from Sales and finished smartly for his 11th league goal of the season.
The Tshwane giants decided to freshen up their stall with a triple substitution and had Mudau, Thapelo Maseko and Jayden Adams come on.
Masandawana enjoyed a comfortable closing moments and secured the victory to regain their 12-point lead over second-place Orlando Pirates.
