Riveiro: Mofokeng puts a smile on all our faces

Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has hailed Relebohile Mofokeng's impact after netting the winning goal against Kaizer Chiefs.

The Buccaneers claimed the spoils in the Soweto Derby with a come-from-behind 2-1 win at the FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Riveiro’s men were behind after three minutes through Glodly Lilepo, but bounced back swiftly courtesy of Evidence Makgopa and Mofokeng.

“Rele, I think is putting smiles on all of our faces, in the face of all the Buccaneers since he started to play for us and the other boys are getting inspiration from him as well.

“I think we finished today with six youngsters on the field which is something that speak volumes about the vision of the club and where Pirates is going.

So, I think that’s a lot of news one more time for the team."

It was the last league derby for the Spaniard, who departs end of the season and believes the encounter is a proper show and unique and hopes he plays more derby games in his next post.

“Something unique, it’s something unique wherever I go it’s going to be difficult to experience something like this because it’s a proper football party. Hopefully, I have the opportunity to play more derbies wherever I have the opportunity to work," he added.

“But this one is unique having the fans watching the game together no problems celebrating you know what these clubs are – the proper history of South African football and it’s something unique that you have to protect forever and something that really.

“I always try to explain to people on the other side of the world what it means to play this game. They don’t understand it until they come so hopefully more people they come because it’s a proper show,” he added.
