Mamelodi Sundowns' reserve team coach David Notoane says Percy Tau's move abroad can serve as inspiration to the youngsters

Tau completed a move to English Premier League side Brighton Hove Albion on a four-year deal, but will be loaned out. This will help him understand the demands of European football.

Notoane, who worked with Tau in Sundowns’ MultiChoice Diski Challenge squad, says the training and coaching at the club prepares players for a higher level of football in Europe. He hopes more players can follow in the footsteps of Tau, who is the reigning PSL Footballer of the Season.

“At Sundowns, players are brought here to go for the global market. The training, the coaching and mentality is the one that shapes them for those challenges to go to Europe and stay there and not come back, as has been the case with some players,” Notoane tells snl24.com/kickoff.

“Percy fits that and it’s an exciting move for him, although it’s a loss for the team because of the quality he has. Being a product of the academy means the hardwork of the coaches from when he started, to going to the first team, is bearing fruit. Hopefully the younger ones, with the right attitude, can get to that level.”
