Mamelodi Sundowns duo Marcelo Allende, Abubeker Nasir reflect on first Mamelodi Sundowns goals

Two of Mamelodi Sundowns' newest recruits, Marcelo Allende and Abubeker Nasir, have both reflected on their first goals for the club, the latter of which came in a sensational win over Kaizer Chiefs.

Reigning DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns were among the most active teams during the transfer window ahead of the 2022/23 campaign after bolstering their squad with no fewer than seven new additions to the squad, as well as finally registering Ethiopia international Abubeker Nasir.

Alongside Nasir, Chilean star Marcelo Allende arrived as a marquee signing and the duo have already hit the ground running at Chloorkop, with the latter scoring on his league debut in a 3-0 win over Stellenbosch FC in August.

"Scoring a goal in my first-ever match for the club was such a great feeling. The goal helped to settle my nerves and to give everyone a glimpse of what to expect while I am here," Allende said in the latest edition of Mamelodi Sundowns Magazine.

"Not only was I happy to get onto the score sheet, I was very excited that we got all three points at the end of the match. I am looking to give my best to help Mamelodi Sundowns extend its dominance in South African football, as well as conquer the African continent and beyond."

Nasir, meanwhile, has scored twice in three league outings today, including one in the Tshwane derby, which followed his maiden goal in Sundowns' 4-0 drubbing of Sowet giants Kaizer Chiefs near the start of the season.

"I was extremely happy to score my first goal for Sundowns during such a big match, in my mind I knew I was pleasing the fans and also making my family and friends happy. They have all contributed to my success," he said.
