Mamelodi Sundowns’ Betway Premiership match against Chippa United on Wednesday will come with relevance for Miguel Cardoso.
Sundowns host Chippa at Loftus Versfeld (19:30) aiming for all three points that will bring them closer to completing their eighth consecutive league success.

The Brazilians should be just as good as done with another six points considering that they have a +22 better goal difference compared to Orlando Pirates, the only club still in with a chance of wrestling the title from them.
For Cardoso, Wednesday will be game number 30 in charge since he took over at Sundowns on December 10, 2024, after being brought in to replace Manqoba Mngqithi, who oversaw the first 18 games in all competitions this season.
The Portuguese has already taken charge of 29 games across all competitions, which have included the Betway Premiership, Nedbank Cup, and the CAF Champions League.
His results board has 20 wins, five draws, and four defeats with the only sour taste being an exit from the Nedbank Cup, which came via a controversial refereeing decision in the semi-finals.
In the Betway Premiership, Cardoso has done nothing special with the Tshwane giants on their way to their eighth league title in a row.
Winning the league has become so standard at Chloorkop that it is no longer what matters.
Rulani Mokwena can attest to that having been pushed out from the head coach job at the club despite winning the league.
What matters most is the CAF Champions League.
Cardoso has been able to go past the semi-final hurdle and get The Brazilians into the final of this competition, where they will play Pyramids FC over two legs.
The Champions League was won by Pitso Mosimane in 2016 and has proven elusive for the club since then despite the efforts they have made, reaching the semi-finals thrice and quarterfinals on four occasions.
With four to play in the league and the two legs of the Champions League final, Cardoso will reach 35 games by the time he clocks six months at the club on June 10.

The 52-year-old will hope to have lifted both the domestic league and Champions League by then.
After that, he heads to the FIFA Club World Cup, where they have group matches against Ulsan HD from South Korea on June 17, then Borussia Dortmund four days later, before they wrap up Group F against Fluminense.
