Breakout Mamelodi Sundowns star Cassius Mailula reveals trophy ambitions

Mamelodi Sundowns starlet Cassius Mailula has revealed his ambitions to lift silverware with The Brazilians as the side prepares to resume football action following the mid-season break.

Mailula burst onto the scene after making his debut against Orlando Pirates in the first semi-final leg on the MTN8 but the 21 year old's talent took centre stage when he scored a brace as Sundowns beat La Passe in October.

Overall, he's contributed five goals and one assists in just seven appearances for The Brazilians.

"The plan is to work hard and impress my coaches so I can earn more game time and continue my growth as a player, I look forward to learning as much as I can from my experienced teammates," Mailula told the Mamelodi Sundowns Magazine.

"As a junior from the academy, my dream is to win the league and the CAF Champions League with Mamelodi Sundowns, this is something we all aspire to achieve."

Still, with the expected return to action of Ethiopian attacker Abubeker Nassir and Namibian striker Peter Shalulie,  starting positions will may prove hard to come by in the Sundowns attacking line.

Mailula also faces competition from Themba Zwane, Gaston Sirino, Lebohang Maboe and Marcelo Allende among others.

The academy product will hope to be in contention to play when The Brazilians take on Orlando Pirates in for their last DStv Premiership fixture on 30 December.
