'Rulani is a genius and he knows it'

With Rulani Mokwena having opened up on his emotional departure from Mamelodi Sundowns, supporters have reacted to it and appear heartbroken by his departure.

The tactician is known to be somewhat of a poet and his ability to draw emotions using just a pen and a piece of paper shined as he crafted an emotional farewell to the club he led to three DStv Premiership titles among other trophies.

It was a letter in which he officially bid goodbye, despite admitting that he "never envisioned this day would come" and that he did not "expect to part ways in this manner."

He went on to thank everyone he worked with at the club as well as the players who served him.

The former Masandawana coach also took to other platforms to express how emotional he is after his tenure at the club came to an abrupt end.

Supporters and off-field admirers of the coach have also been affected. After watching him implement his crafty tactics and lead their side to domestic, as well as continental success, fans seem sad to see him leave.

Even fans of other clubs showed their appreciation for the 37-year-old.

Check out what they had to say:

"I am not a Sundowns supporter. However, I believe that you are the best to have ever done it in SA; don't even mention Africa. The real goat. The next coach really has some big boots to fill. Wishing you all the best, King," writes @mfundo_gwamanda.

"One of the best this country has, the only youngest to ever do it," says @sam_kgaladi.

"I'm speechless honestly," writes @dladlamenzi.

"To dominate the PSL as a young black man and then get treated like this is very sad. You can hear the pain in his voice, I really do wonder what it is about Flemming Berg that is so special because choosing him over Rulani really makes  no sense," says @PeacefulZulu.

What do you think of Rulani's tenure at Downs as well as his departure and what it means for the club? Do not hesitate to share your thoughts in the comment section below.

"Rulani is a genius and he knows it. And the life of a genius is always riddled with ups and downs. He was growing rapidly as a coach and leader and becoming more influential and more powerful so it was only a matter of time before those in powerful positions would find his rapid rise problematic. This is all about power, he was becoming too powerful for that nest. I hope he realizes that and understands that the journey is far from over for him. Where have you ever seen a coach of the season being fired? He signed a four-year contract, was he expected to win the champions league for the next four years in a row? He didn't deliver it in his first year but he still has three years in his contract, so if he doesn't deliver it after 4 years, then fire him. Only an idiot would buy the Champions League story," writes @zizirealestate.

"You did very well chief. As a Buccaneer I'm very proud," says @almazsithole.

"Even today I still can't believe you left at Sundowns… You've honestly changed the game and took it to another level. All the best in the future Sir," writes @Cellular_jnr.

"I keep hoping that someone can say we were playing," says @vincent_maje.
