Asante Kotoko have expressed their delight after receiving an invitation from Kaizer Chiefs to participate in the 2025 Toyota Cup. Here's a look!
The Story
The Toyota Cup was officially relaunched on Thursday, with Amakhosi confirming a new African opponent.
Last year, Amakhosi faced Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC, and this year the Soweto club have invited Ghanaian heavyweights Asante Kotoko.

The Ghanaian outfit has now expressed their eagerness to take part in the competition.
In a statement on their official website, the club said: "Asante Kotoko SC is pleased to confirm that we have accepted an invitation to play in this year’s Toyota Cup, where we will face Kaizer Chiefs of South Africa in an international friendly.
"The match is set for Monday, 28th July 2025 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, South Africa.
"This game is an important step in strengthening the long‑standing relationship between two of the continent’s biggest clubs, and it also forms part of our preparations for the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup against a team who will also be participating in the same competition.
"It will give our team valuable international experience as we build towards a strong campaign in Africa."
The club added: "We are proud to represent Ghana on this international stage and thank the Porcupine Family for their ongoing support. More details about travel arrangements, squad announcements and fan engagement activities will be shared soon."
