With one pre-season match played in the Netherlands, a former Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach has given his verdict on the performance of the club's new signings.
Chiefs lost 2-1 to Vitesse on Tuesday, having gone into the breaking leading by a goal.

Nasreddine Nabi's men had a better first half and seemed to drop the standard in the second in a match where new recruits Thabiso Monyane, Flavio da Silva, Ethan Chislet, and Nkanyiso Shinga all got a taste of the action.
"Results are not important in pre-season. The team is going through periodisation so that they can peak at the right time when the league starts," notes Farouk Khan.
"You use such games to give youngsters like (Aden) McCarthy a chance. I like the fact that when they played Shinga in the second half, the boys looked like they could revive the left-back position.
"With Silva up front, he didn't look much different than what they had in the past, but it's early days. He was working very hard, he was running, he was pressing, he could give a lot of energy up front. But whether he can score, we don't know because the best goal of the match was scored by (Reeve) Frosler," he added, before issuing a verdict on the others.
"Chislet didn't impress me. He looked like he was out of sorts. I suppose it's a different level now coming from a lower league in England. Professional football is never easy.

"Monyane didn't do too bad, but he was not tested, you know. We must remember they were also playing against a team that was recently relegated, so they are also trying to build. So, you can't read too much with this game.
"But out of the four new players that played, Shinga is the one who impressed me. Other than that, there is still a lot of work in progress at Kaizer Chiefs."
Amakhosi face a sterner test on Friday as they come up against FC Utrecht, who finished fourth in the Eredivisie last season.
