'The underdog will use Pirates as a stepping stone'

In this edition of the Supporters Forum, Kaizer Chiefs' prominent supporter, Saddam Maake, appeals to the club's players to give their all on the pitch against Orlando Pirates.

The Glamour Boys will visit the Buccaneers in the first Soweto Derby of the 2024/2025 season, and Maake believes this Saturday will mark a turning point for Chiefs.

Tickets for the 15:30 encounter are sold out.

"This is Soweto Derby number 179, I have missed only three of them due to Covid-19 restrictions," Maake tells KickOff.

"Pirates are favourites going into this match due to their recent performances, while Chiefs are struggling. But this is a township battle, so all of that doesn't matter.

"There will be miracles at FNB Stadium on Saturday, the underdog will use Pirates as a stepping stone.

"We are not relying on the new signings because they don't have the experience of the derby. We have been preparing for this game without their presence.

"We are going to beat Pirates 2-1, regardless of who is playing on the day. I know Pirates fans have been dreaming of beating us 5-0 or 6-0 after their victory over Al Ahly," Maake added.

"At the end of the day, by the time the referee blows his final whistle, Chiefs will have collected all three points.

"They have Tito, we have Tshabalala. They have Mofokeng, we have Vilakazi.

"As Chiefs supporters, we would gladly accept a win rather than a draw. We don't want a draw, we must fight for a victory. They must defeat us if they can, Pirates, but anything less than a win should be considered a lose at least. We must die fighting."
