Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has sent a message to the critics after the team failed to secure a top-eight finish in the Betway Premiership on the final day of the season.
Chiefs missed out on a place in the top eight and will once again not feature in next season’s MTN8 after finishing ninth on the table.
The coach regrets missing out on the MTN8 next season, but cautioned that they are in a process of rebuilding the team.

“I think nobody can undermine what the team has done this season; they have won a cup after ten years without a trophy. I regret, we regret I’m not in the MTN8, it’s better I’m in the MTN but don’t forget I’m in the process,” Nabi said.
“This is a translate season, I give more opportunity for a model game. I’m number two in the moments to score (chances created stats) the problem with efficiency – once striker scores. If we have this striker – maybe (I would have finished) number three this season. For that, I’m not dramatize it’s not good.
“I’m not happy how we finished (the season), but after the final - winning the cup what I can talk about that I’m happy we win the cup for me it’s a process. I don’t change every game,” he further explained.
With a trophy in the bag, the Tunisian believes some people aren’t happy about it and touched on the criticism they have faced from all concerned.
The club knows what’s needed for next season and winning the Nedbank Cup is a huge step in their rebuilding process.
“We know now what the team needs, I think we’re in progress because I understand what the team needed exactly but I regret we’re not in the MTN8 and I stop like that. I don’t dramatize, we won the Nedbank Cup and it’s a big step in the process,” Nabi explained.
“Every time the question is negative, I won the Nedbank (after ten years) and now (what about) MTN no – because me I understand all.
“South Africa, I understand all – all the people, critics, analyst. I respect all the analyst, but never one to change my direction with Kaizer Chiefs me and the committee because we build.
“Some people are not happy Kaizer Chiefs is coming back, I know. Too much people not happy because I know why I give them reason. Because I observed the reactions of the fans after (winning) the Nedbank Cup.
“This is not good for some people and some people continuing to create problem here, critic us, create confusion to push the fans to attack the coach but don’t worry about that,” he concluded.
