Chiefs captain warned

Renowned football agent Mike Makaab has offered a word of advice to Kaizer Chiefs defender and club captain Inacio Miguel.

Amakhosi had to battle with one player down for the majority of the second half in the Carling Knockout quarter-final, after the Angolan was shown two yellow cards and sent off.

Before that, Miguel had missed the Premiership match against Magesi FC due to suspension after an accumulation of four yellow cards in previous matches.

The arming trend has prompted former footballer, coach and now well-known agent Makaab to offer a word of advice to the skipper.

"I looked at the captain, Inacio [Miguel]. I think he's a top footballer, but he's got to be less emotional. He is going to get yellow card after yellow card and, red card after red card if he doesn't calm himself down," Makaab said on GagasiFM's ExtraTime.

"As a captain, you need to have that composure and that sense of calmness so that when the young players around you are losing their heads or feel initiated or feel overwhelmed, it's then your senior players that have to steady the ship.

"Unfortunately, Chiefs' senior players never steadied that ship at all."

Makaab was echoing the sentiments of Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Manqoba Mngqithi, who expressed his concern that Chiefs had become overly reliant on their younger players.

Amakhosi will return to competitive action on 27 November when they take on Richards Bay at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
