Mayo: Chiefs would be my first preference

CR Belouizdad striker Khanyisa Mayo has expressed that Kaizer Chiefs would be his first choice if he considers returning to the Betway Premiership in the future.

Currently, Mayo is with Algerian giants CR Belouizdad, who are competing in the CAF Champions League.

They are set to face Chiefs' biggest rivals, Orlando Pirates, in a Group C clash.

"Regarding Chiefs, yes, if I ever think about coming back home, they will be my first preference," Mayo told KickOff.

Khanyisa's father, Patrick Mayo, was a significant player for Chiefs from 2003 to 2007, contributing as both a striker and a defender.

"It's the biggest team in South Africa, and my dad played there," Khanyisa said.

"So, I also see myself representing one of the top teams in the country."

He explained that his move to Algeria was primarily because they were the first club willing to meet the financial demands of Mr. Comitis, which facilitated the transfer.

"I'm just adapting to a new culture, and things are going well. It's just a matter of time before I start scoring goals. Settling into a new club can be challenging," he added.

Mayo has started in three games - two in the league and one in the Champions League, and has come on as a substitute in four matches.

"It's a work in progress; to score more, I need more minutes on the pitch."
