Chiefs had been with Nike since the start of the 2001/02 season taking over from Reebok.
AmaKhosi' deal with Kappa is now standing amongst the flagship deals for the Italian manufacturers across the globe.
Chiefs were previously with the Italian manufacturers through their years as a dominant force from 1989 to 1996.
Between those years, Chiefs won 11 titles and so far, it has been one trophy in two years which has raised the optimism.
The new home jersey will be worn in the first half and the away in the second half for the Toyota Cup match against Ghana giants Asante Kotoko at Moses Mabhida in Durban on Saturday.
"Unbelievably so and I can tell you now that we have presold more jerseys for this third season than both the previous seasons," says Ricky Joseph, the director and head of Kappa when asked about sales.
"I think it is an indication of the excitement of the fans, obviously winning the Nedbank Cup has given the fans more belief and more reason to buy.
"I mean, the sales after the Nedbank Cup trophy were incredible.
"So, the response of the fans as we all know, everyone wants to buy a winner’s jersey so infact we have had to place additional top up orders since the Nedbank Cup because obviously the jerseys launched today were ordered long before the Nedbank Cup was won.

"So, this third season is looking very optimistic in terms of the purchases from the retailers.
"We can never tell by the fans until it goes in store but already the reaction today has been really good," says Joseph.
