Kaizer Chiefs' pursuit of the man to take over from interim boss Cavin Johnson before the start of the New Year will set AmaKhosi enroute to have their fourth coach in a single calendar year.
This will then mean this becomes only the second time that Chiefs have had four coaches calling the shots in the same calendar year.

It was as recent as 2018 that Chiefs found themselves with Steve Komphela, Patrick Mabedi, Giovanni Solinas, and Ernst Middendorp running the rule in the same year.
When Komphela made his way out in April 2018 just days after violent scenes marred the end of Chiefs' Nedbank Cup exit the baton was then handed to Mabedi on a temporary as he finished off what remained of the season with AmaKhosi finishing third.
The Malawian was then demoted back to assistant after Solinas took over in July 2018.
However, the Italian lasted just four months getting the sack before Christmas with Middendorp being brought back for his second stint at the club.
As is well documented, no silverware was delivered that year.

Fast forward to 2023, Chiefs have found themselves with so plenty meetings related to their coaches as they seek to find solutions to what has become a mess at the club.
The Motaungs have been gathering in countless meeting along with shareholder Mike Nkuna.
Interim coach Johnson – whose permanent post is head of academy – has been kept at an arm's distance from those proceedings.
Johnson is the third coach that Chiefs have had this season after Arthur Zwane and Molefi Ntseki.
Zwane was sacked at the end of last season while Ntseki only lasted 13 games as head coach before also losing his head of technical and youth development post that he had held upon joining the club in 2021.
Chiefs have been on the market for a new job and this website has already been told that Brazilian coach Alexandre Gallo has been engaged.

Gallo is currently with Brazilian Serie A club Santos in Sao Paulo working as the team co-ordinator since returning in August.
The Brazilian Serie A season is due to end in December – which will be the perfect time for Gallo to leave Santos and pack his bags for South Africa.

Besides the video conference call that they have had with Gallo in seeking to advance their interests in him, Chiefs have also spoken to another two coaches from Europe whose identity is yet to be established.
Chiefs have games against Moroka Swallows (November 26), Polokwane City (December 9), Richards Bay (December 23), and Sekhukhune United (December 30) to play before the end of the year after which they will then play TS Galaxy on February 13.
