Kaizer Chiefs target ladies football team in Mpumalanga

Kaizer Chiefs are rolling up their sleeves in their pursuit of buying a women's football team status in the Hollywoodbets Super League this season.

Amakhosi have already assembled a women's team in preparation for officially launching their own women's football team this year.

According to information gathered by KickOff, the Phefeni Glamour Boys could secure the status of Mpumalanga-based team, Coal City Wizards in the Hollywoodbets Super League this season.

Mamelodi Sundowns and Royal AM remain the only two PSL clubs in the country with the women's team participating in the Super League.

Coal City Wizards lost their chairman, Mabu Maroaswi recently after battling with a long illness.

"The negotiations started long before the passing away of the chairman. He has always been struggling with the team and was preparing to sell the team this time around before he passed away," said the source close to Coal City Wizards.

"Kaizer Chiefs did submit their offer late last year and the negotiations were still ongoing.

Mr Maroaswi's family is expected to make the final decision soon about the future of the club in Witbank," he added.

Kaizer Chiefs marketing director, Jessica Motaung confirmed her team's ambitions of buying a women's team status in the Super League to the media recently.

"It's an exciting time for us to come on but we have to take baby steps. We still have to finalise our team for the league at the domestic level and then obviously the Champions League and hopefully play our role on the continent and then World, but Chiefs are excited to get into this space and we are going to announce our team soon," said Motaung
