'He will carry Chiefs' hopes next season'

Goldy Makabi Lilepo has been touted as the man to carry the hopes of Kaizer Chiefs next season following his impressive start.

The Congolese winger came in from French third-tier league club Valenciennes at the beginning of the year and has made good of his time at Chiefs so far.

Lillepo took the scoring responsibility on his shoulders to end with six goals (plus one assist) in 18 appearances for the side, winning the belief of Nasreddine Nabi.

"Lilepo will explode next season for Chiefs because of how he has quickly adjusted at the club, where he seems to have the trust of the coach," says former Amakhosi striker Kabamba Musasa.

Musasa spent two-and-a-half years at Naturena after impressing at the 2002 Vodacom Challenge, starting his time at the club with 10 goals in his first season before fading.

"I like the way he has started his career at Chiefs, he has shown that he can do the job for the team.

"Once he has had pre-season with the club, I strongly believe he will carry Chiefs' hopes next season.

"But I feel Chiefs need to strengthen their forward line for them to see more of Lilepo.

"He is a very good player, and I like that he is quick and can score.

"All my confidence is on him to make it happen for Chiefs because they need that kind of player to get going.

"I just hope that he is getting good money at Chiefs because that is what will keep him happy there if he is performing," says Musasa, who scored in the Soweto Derby in consecutive seasons while at the club and is now retired.
