Chiefs sharpen Miguel’s replacement

Kaizer Chiefs' plan minus Inacio Miguel at the back has become clear ahead of the return of official club football after the current FIFA dates.

Miguel was sent off in the 4-0 Carling Knockout defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns at the beginning of the month just after returning from another suspension, which came with the accumulation of four yellow cards.

The red card and four yellow cards all happened in just six games.

This means Miguel will not be available for the matches against Richards Bay FC (November 27) and Royal AM (November 30).

With that, a clear route of return has been opened for Given Msimango with support from Zitha Kwinika on that right side of central defence.

Msimango started both games in the Home of Legends tournament over the weekend, providing proof of how much he is going to be needed with Miguel out.

In the first match against Golden Arrows, Msimango had Kwinika as his partner, with the latter also being given a run to bring him closer to match fitness.

Miguel was then brought in to play with Msimango in the second game against Mamelodi Sundowns.

The former TS Galaxy captain will partner Rushwin Dortley, who is a right-footed central defender, when official football resumes.

He started against Magesi FC when Miguel served his one-match suspension and was also thrown in late in the game against AmaZulu FC.

Msimango – who played 30 games last season – also has the ability to lead from the back and was captain in six games last term in what was his first campaign at the club.
