'If Chiefs want a player the price goes up' - Chiefs' transfer struggles detailed

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Frank "Disco" Makua believes his former club have acquired enough quality in the transfer market to compete for honours this season.

Makua says finishing in the top three of the DStv Premiership table this season would be massive for a team like Chiefs who are in a rebuilding.

"For now, I think they have enough depth, things are looking good, yes upfront they might need at least one just to add manpower," Makua tells KickOff.

"The new striker Jasond Gonzales is promising, he is not a bad striker, and given a fair chance, he will do well.

"It's tough in our market because if Chiefs wants a player, the price goes up. So because of that, I don't see anyone here locally.

"But anyway, I believe with this current team Chiefs can get a trophy this season."

Makua says the Glamour Boys should try by all means to win the MTN8 Cup this season because it will be hard to do so in the Black Label Cup and the Nedbank Cup.

"The MTN8 is a shortcut, so we must take advantage of that if we want to end this trophy drought.

"Yes, Sundowns are a good team but, in a cup game, anything is possible. You can't predict cup games.

"If Chiefs can score one goal in the second leg it changes everything.

"Let's just give the technical team a chance and see what they can do. I think we will finish in the top three on the log this season, and that will be quite an achievement.

"It won't be easy, but I believe in this team we've got this season."
