With two attempts at lifting trophies this season now binned, Kaizer Chiefs' frustrating wait to stop an end to their barren trophy spell will come down to yet another irritating low for the club.
As is already recorded in the history books, Chiefs last won silverware in May 2015 and have gone through nine years of misery by the time they can possibly win another trophy in May next year.

It has been a cloud of darkness at Naturena with their wait translating to 101 months of no joy which is the longest wait in the club's proud history.
Amakhosi have since played 332 games (33 editions of different competitions) since they last had a taste of trophy happiness, and the weight of those games will have surpassed 350 by the time they get a chance of aiming for another piece of silverware.
The DStv Premiership – for which Chiefs have little chance of winning, will end on May 25, 2024, with the Nedbank Cup final scheduled for the following week.
What will pain Chiefs even more is that their wait is the longest that any of the Big Three has had to put up with since the National Soccer League came into existence in 1985.
The longest that Pirates had to wait for silverware was seven years.
After lifting the league in the 2002/03 season under Roy Barreto, the Bucs had to wait until 2010 for their next piece of silverware when they landed the MTN8 with Rudi Krol in charge at the start of the double treble years.

Pirates also had to wait six years for silverware between the 2014 Nedbank Cup success delivered by Vladimir Vermezovic and the 2020 MTN8 won under Josef Zinnbauer.
The Bucs had five years of waiting after winning the 1988 BOB Save Super Bowl through to 1993 when they won the BP Top 8.

For Sundowns, their longest wait came between the league success of the 1999/2000 season with Paul Dolezar as coach and the 2005/06 triumph under Neil Tovey and Miguel Gamondi.
Tovey and Gamondi took over from Angel Cappa with 13 games midway through December 2005.

Sundowns also had to endure another six years of waiting as after winning the 2008 Nedbank Cup under Trott Moloto their next trophy became the 2013/14 league title after Pitso Mosimane took over.
In the period between the start of the NSL and the PSL, Sundowns won all the trophies on the domestic scene just like they have won all local trophies in the last four years.
