Chiefs assistant coach rates Soweto Derby chances

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef has rated their chances in the Soweto derby against Orlando Pirates after a 4-0 win over Free Agents in the Nedbank Cup.

Chiefs progressed the round of 16 in the Nedbank Cup thanks to a brace by Pule Mmodi and a goal apiece from Inacio Miguel and Ranga Chivaviro.

Ben Youssef suggested the match was tricky with the Soweto derby against Pirates coming next week.

"Firstly I have to say thank you to Free Agents, honestly I don't think it's a team for the third division, they've got a lot of ideas inside, some structure," Ben Youssef said on SuperSport.

"Congratulations to them. For us it's a tough game, when you play against a team from a lower division is always difficult for our players to prepare for the game mentally.

"The second problem we had is the derby next week, some players start to think about the derby, scared of injuries and yellow cards.

"You saw we made three substitutions to protect our players from yellow cards.

"Congratulations to the players for the performance, I think this is the second time we made a clean-sheet. The team is progressing (but) still we have a lot of work. We're so happy for our players."

Ben Youssef went on and suggested that they have a 50/50 chance against The Buccaneers next weekend.

"Honestly we have a good team, not very good players but a good team. All play for Chiefs and can play from start for the badge. We have good players, good ambition inside, they want to progress. We changed always, we try to keep the fitness of our players and also to try to manage the team," Ben Youssef continued.

"We had four players on three yellow cards, (Mduduzi) Shabalala, (Yusuf) Maart, (Njabulo) Blom and (Samkelo) Zwane, so we tried to manage this game, we had stay focused and also think about the derby.

"The derby is 50 percent, 50 percent for both teams. We have our idea, they have their idea, we will see next week. We'll win, we'll see."
