At one point during the 2024/25 season, Kaizer Chiefs' last line of defence Bruce Bvuma was on track to win the Goalkeeper of the Season award, says an ex-Bafana Bafana technical team member.
However, a few blunders led to Bvuma being dropped from first choice to third choice in the Amakhosi's goalkeeping hierarchy.
The list of football legends and analysts endorsing Magesi FC’s goalkeeper, Elvis Chipezeze, for this season's Goalkeeper of the Year award is growing. Yet, Heredia believes the Zimbabwean should rank third on the list, following Ronwen Williams and Bvuma.

The 35-year-old Chipezeze has made 29 appearances for the Carling Knockout champions this season, conceding 30 goals and achieving 12 clean sheets.
"There was a moment when I really thought Bvuma would take it hands down," Heredia tells KickOff.
"But after he committed several serious mistakes, I changed my mind. Chiefs had an absolute disaster of a season, which worked against Bvuma. So for me, the goalkeeper of the season will be Ronwen Williams once again. He has been very solid for Mamelodi Sundowns.
"Ronwen only misses games due to injuries, not because of poor performance. In my opinion, when a goalkeeper loses their first-choice position, it is usually due to poor performance, as is the case with Bvuma at the moment.
"To some extent, yes, Chipezeze has done enough to be considered for the Goalkeeper of the Season award. However, the issue is that these goalkeepers lack consistency. He may make a good save one moment and then make a mistake the next. He has crucial lapses in games at crucial moments. Having two good games and one bad game does not convey consistency to me. So while Chipezeze is not bad, he should definitely rank at least third on the list, but he is certainly not number one.

"Sipho Chaine at Orlando Pirates is decent, but again, he has his moments—some good, some bad.
"The best players in football are judged by their consistency. Therefore, I will stick with Ronwen Williams. He is the most consistent goalkeeper in our league."
