DStv Diski Shield Wrap

Kaizer Chiefs 4-2 SuperSport United

Kaizer Chiefs secured a 4-2 win SuperSport United to seal a spot in the DStv Diski Shield semi-final on Sunday afternoon.

SuperSport were up and running in the opening stages after Tendamudzimu Matodzi bagged the opener, but it was erased few minutes later courtesy of Wandile Duba.

The Amakhosi leaned into a comfortable pedestal late in the half due to Donay Jansen followed by a sumptuous strike from Duba that ensured his brace.

Matsatsantsa hoped to engineer a comeback after halftime with Matodzi on the double, but none materialized as Puso Dithejane restored Chiefs' two-goal cushion which effectively confirmed victory.

Orlando Pirates 1-2 Mamelodi Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns displayed a brave all round performance to see off Orlando Pirates 2-1 and booked a spot in the semi-finals of the DStv Diski Shield at the Wits Football Stadium on Saturday.

It was goalless during the course of the first half, but the Brazilians broke the deadlock minutes in the resumption when Cassius Mailula pounced on a defensive error and profited.

Then with just under the final 10 minutes remaining, Masandawana bagged a second courtesy of the self-same Mailula from another sloppy bit of defending by the Sea Robbers.

Pirates looked for a way back well in the closing exchanges through substitute Mohau Nkota, but it was too little too late as the Brazilians emerged victorious.

TS Galaxy 0-1 Chippa United

Chippa United accompanied Mamelodi Sundowns to the last four of the Diski Shield due to a narrow 1-0 win over TS Galaxy also at the Wits Football Stadium.

The Chilli Boys, who had a remarkable DStv Diski Challenge campaign under incumbent Daine Klate last season, got the winner through skipper Aviwe Mqokozo.

Maritzburg United 1-2 Stellenbosch FC

DStv Diski Challenge champions Stellenbosch FC also ensured passage to the final four of the tournament after they recorded a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Maritzburg United.

Stellies were without last season's top scorer Fuad Johnson, but nonetheless went ahead as early as the sixth minute through Mervin Boji.

The lead was extended just before halftime as their highly-rated midfielder Roy-Keane Avontuur got in on the scoring act from casual bit of play by the Team of Choice.

Peter Petersen's men targeted a swift comeback near the closing exchanges of the match when Siphesihle Ngcobo reduced the advantage, but the Maroons ended up victorious.
