Amathole Ezinyathi were keen observers of City's 1-0 win over Bidvest Wits in a Nedbank Cup last-32 tie at Bidvest Stadium in midweek.
Buffaloes coach Dominic Kunene says they have also watched other matches involving the Citizens, who are making their debut at the continental second-tier competition in only the second season of their existence.
"We watched them against Wits. We have been watching all their games and we know what to expect from them," Kunene told snl24.com/kickoff.
"Our preparations have been going well. If our preparations were spot on it will be determined by the result on match day.
"Our main aim is not to concede at home and if we do that then our chances of advancing to the next stage of the competition will be high."
City coach Benni McCarthy will be without new signing Matthew Rusike - who scored on debut against Wits - as he arrived too late at the club to be registered for the tournament.
