SuperSport United's Aubrey Modiba looking forward to CAF Confederation Cup

Modiba joined SuperSport from Cape Town City last season and is heading into his fourth knockout competition final with Matsatsantsa, when they take on TP Mazembe in the CAF Confederation Cup decider next month.

Modiba is the only player in the SuperSport side that has played in every single match in the Confederation Cup, gaining valuable experience on the continent.

"I have not missed a game in the Confed Cup. I am only one who has played every game and I am happy. It shows that there is something I am doing right. I just have to keep performing consistently. Credit to the coaches for giving me the opportunity. My family has also been supporting me. It’s not only about me, but about the team as well."

SuperSport played Mazembe twice during the group stages, drawing on both occasions. Modiba scored in the 2-2 stalemate in Lubumbashi, but admits that the final will be a totally different ball game.

Mazembe are the defending champions, so SuperSport will have to give a mighty good fight to wrestle the trophy away from the DRC giants.

"We know about them. It’s not like we don’t know what to expect. They are a good side and it will be tough. It will be a different ball game because it’s a final. Everyone will want to perform," Modiba says.

He adds: "I was happy to score against Mazembe. It’s a big team on the continent. Not everyone gets to score in Lubumbashi."
