SuperSport United winger Thuso Phala says they will be pushing for an away goal

The sides drew 2-2 in Lubumbashi in June, as Matsatsantsa came back from two goals down, before playing to a goalless draw at Lucas Moripe Stadium two weeks later.

Heading into the final, however, Phala believes defending Confederation Cup champions Mazembe will come out a totally different side. Mazembe do, after all, have loads of experience in continental club football, so they know how to approach a final on home soil.

The two sides meet in Lubumbashi for the first leg of the final today (15h30)

“It’s going to be a different ball game since it’s the final. They know that they have one chance to beat us. They need to get a result at home,” Phala said.

“In the group stage you know you have three games to play, so the mentality will be different. But I think they are aware of the danger we pose. We had a more tougher route to the final compared to them. They are going to be wary of us even though they are playing at home and we need to use this to our advnatage."

Phala says they will not sit back, even though they are away from home.

“We want an away goal. We are not going to sit back. We are going to attack," he said.

Matsatsantsa, who are on the brink of making history, will be on a mission to turn the Mazembe fans against their own side, which will give the visitors an advantage.

"When we left Tunisia [after playing against Club Africain in the semi final] everyone was talking about us. It’s about us going to Mazembe and turning the crowd against them. When things are not going well, fans turn against you.”
