SuperSport United coach Eric Tinkler backs Sifiso Myeni to build on first goal against Platinum Stars

Myeni scored his first goal for the club in last night's 2-0 win over Platinum Stars, unleashing a powerful shot from outside the box after coming on as a substitute at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Tinkler feels the former Orlando Pirates attacker improved on his debut off the bench in the 2-0 defeat of Maritzburg United in the MTN8 semi-finals on the weekend.

"Myeni, obviously with game-time will get better and today [Tuesday] I think he was better than when he came on against Maritzburg," said Tinkler of the 29-year-old, who joined SuperSport on loan from champions Bidvest Wits on transfer deadline day last month.

"We are starting to see that creativity coming through and that ability he has. With more games he will add value to the squad."

Tinkler confirmed he rested key defender Morgan Gould and midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane looking ahead to Friday's Confederation Cup quarter-final first-leg tie with Zambia's Zesco United in Tshwane.

“With that game coming up that’s why we rested Morgan and why we rested 'Yeye'. Today I wish we could have rested more,” added the ex-Cape Town City boss.

The CAF contest will also take place at Lucas Moripe Stadium, with kick-off set for 19h00.
