Matsatsantsa managed to contain The Ravens over both legs, coming from two goals down to salvage a point in Lubumbashi before restricting them to a goalless stalemate in Tshwane on Tuesday evening.
Furman takes heed of the fact that they were able to hold their own over the current holders, and not only manage to go undefeated but also to put out promising displays, which will bode well for their confidence going into their final two Group D clashes over the next two weeks.
"More so than the two draws, I think our performances over the two legs have given us confidence. It shows that we can compete with the giants on the continent," says Furman.
"If you look at last night's game, there was only one team looking to win the game and I think in the away game, coming back from 2-0 down, again there was probably only one team who was more likely to win that game.
"I think more than the results, we can take a lot of positives from the performances and the fact that we've been able to compete, and in large spells in both games outplay the reigning champions of the tournament."
SuperSport now occupy second spot in the group, two points behind leaders Horoya, whom they visit at the end of the month, and level on points with Mazembe, after four rounds of fixtures.
While all three still have a strong chance of making it through the group, the 28-year-old believes just four more points would almost guarentee their passage into the knockout phase.
"It's an interesting group, I don't think anyone really wanted a three-horse race but that's what it's become," adds the Bafana Bafana midfielder.
"Horoya have done excellently, I think they've enjoyed the fixtures, which have been quite kind to them – they've played the team that's bottom of the group home and away, back-to-back.
"But now we go to there home, we know what to expect, we know it's going to be a difficult tie but we know we need a minimum four points from our next two games to hopefully qualify [for the quarter-finals].
"We go there knowing what needs to be done. It's going to be difficult but we know we have the quality and we're fully determined to get to the next round."
The former Doncaster Rovers anchorman is yearning to add a maiden appearance in the last eight of the African club competition to his and the clubs' list of accomplishments, and feels they have the quality to do so.
"It will be another feather in our cap to get to the quarter-finals, and we don't want to fall out in the group stages because we feel that we're better than that. We know we have two huge games coming up and hopefully we can go there and get the business done," he concludes.
