Roger de Sa praised young Ajax Cape Town team

The Urban Warriors beat Sagrada Esperanca 2-1 in Angola, with Ruzaigh Gamildien and Riyaad Norodien getting the goals after a 14-hour journey.

De Sa says he was delighted with the result, especially given the youthful nature of his side.

“The team consisted of a lot of younger players and players who haven’t been playing regularly,” De Sa tells Ajax’s official website.

“Jody got a start, the back-four is pretty new – only Lartey kept his place, up-front Thomas, Ruzaigh, Diva and Asive Langwe were all brought in; Bantu came back from being out as well.”

De Sa added: “Overall it was a very good performance from everybody. We had control of the game throughout.

“We possibly could’ve scored more, but in the end I was very happy with the way the guys carried themselves. Hopefully we can finish the job back home.”

Should they progress, Ajax will face Mozambique side Desportiva de Maputo in the next round.
