Dikwena last lifted a trophy in 2013 following their MTN8 and Telkom Knockout double, yet have since struggled, ending a barren 2016/17 campaign ninth in the league standings.
And young defender Mlilo is desperate for the club to get back to winning ways soon.
“We didn’t do well last season because we were supposed to be in the top five,” he told his club’s website. “We must work hard so we can do even better next season. I would like to see the team win trophies. For other people to take us serious we need to win. When you are not winning trophies people don’t talk about you. We have to win something.”
The 21-year-old admits the defensive line needs to improve in order for that to happen.
“Our squad is good but we have to work on our mistakes,” he said. “We let the team down with set pieces because we conceded more goals from set pieces. Even in the first round we conceded 11 goals from set pieces.
“We can do better if we improve. Defenders have to improve. We must start having own meetings. We also have to harsh because I think we are too easy on one another. We are not competing enough in set pieces.”
Dikwena have also struggled in continental competition so far this campaign, earning just two points from their opening four CAF Confederation Cup group stage encounters.
Mlilo however says he is living is dream and making the most of the experience.
“It’s always been my dream to play on the African continent,” he said. “I am coming up against the big guys. Players from other African countries are strong so that is preparing me to be able to deal with PSL players.”
Stars have already departed for Algeria ahead of Friday evening’s clash against MC Alger.
