Pirates advised to take advantage of 'home' advantage

Former defender Edward Motale says Orlando Pirates should take advantage of their "home advantage" in their next CAF Confederation Cup encounter.

Pirates are set to face Royal Leopards who will host the Buccaneers at the Mbombela Stadium following the unavailability of suitable stadiums in eSwatini.

Both the Somhlolo Stadium and Mavuso Sports Centre are said to have failed CAF requirements.

"Whenever you play at home it's an advantage," Motale tells KickOff.

"I also think Pirates can't afford to lose two games in a row.

"They need to do their homework as it's entirely up to the players and the coaches to how much they want the trophy.

"But playing in South Africa doesn't mean they should underestimate Leopards and rest on their laurels.

"They must still view the city of Mbombela as if it were Eswatini.

"These days whether you are playing at home or away it's the same thing because there are no spectators anyways.

"To win this tournament you need to win your home games, that's how to win this type of tournament.

"They must win all their home games, and then they can determine how far they can progress in the tournament."

Kick-off on Sunday is at 18:00.
