Tembo is prepared to put up a strong team against Kenyan side Gor Mahia at Machakos Stadium on Sunday, despite the fact that they have Absa Premiership clash against Orlando Pirates on Wednesday.
The 2016 Confederation Cup finalists, who beat Angolan side Petro de Luanda in the previous round, are playing for a place in the group stages.
Three days later, however, they will take on Soweto giants Pirates at Mbombela Stadium, meaning they’ll have little rest in between the games.
It’s been a difficult period for Matsatsantsa, who were beaten 1-0 by Polokwane City in the league on Wednesday. Tembo now has to pick themselves up for their game in Kenya, while also ensuring they are fresh to deal with the hectic schedule.
“We’ve got about 18 registered players for CAF. So the bulk of players who played [against Polokwane City] are still goint to take part in Kenya, so it’s up to us to manage them and also make sure they are fresh for Sunday’s game and to be fresh,” the former Zimbabwean international said.
“But we will take the strongest available team for us because we can never try select a weaker team. No one wants to play [against] a weakened team.”
Matsatsantsa landed in Kenya this afternoon and will train on the match venue tomorrow.
