The Clever Boys returned home in the early hours of Friday morning, after what was said to be a gruelling journey to Calabar, where they suffered an exit from the continental club competition at the hands of Enyimba.
The two sides played to a goalless stalemate but Wits were eliminated on the away-goals rule after playing to 1-1 draw at the Bidvest Stadium a fortnight ago.
After returning from their trip, during which the players were subjected to rather shoddy meals and other logistical issues, the outgoing Absa Premiership champions put out a mundane display to salvage a point at home to Polokwane City on Sunday afternoon.
Hunt lamented the conditions in which his side were hosted, before being repulsed at the thought of complaining about the experience.
“Have you understood what we’ve done in the last week or two? It was a nightmare, a disgrace. Things like that shouldn’t be in football,” lamented Hunt.
“It’s a joke [what happened out there], I’m not even going to get into it. You guys should come, and then you’ll know about it instead of criticising us for getting knocked out.
“We can’t play there… Red cards again, disallowed goals, tackles are … you know, it’s crazy. The pitch, I mean, it was … Anyway, I don’t want to talk about it.”
Hunt further explained that the dwindling numbers in his squad forced him to use players that he had hoped to rest for their league fight, but circumstances ultimately forced his hand in putting them out on the pitch.
“Well we’re obviously leggy, and we’re heavy. Mentally, I don’t think it’s legs, it’s more mental what we’ve been through,” he explained.
“And because we’ve only got a few [available players], we had to take some that we didn’t want to take and we had to play one or two, and that was it.”
Wits' veteran midfielder Daine Klate took to twitter to expose the qualifty of food they were served, as he expressed his relief at being back on home soil.

The Braamfontein-based outfit next face a tough challenge against title-chasing Orlando Pirates, in an Absa Premiership fixture set to be played behind closed doors at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday evening.
