Eric Tinkler satisfied with win over Al Ahly

Pirates overcame their Egyptian opponents with a 1-0 scoreline, however, Tinkler is confident to travel to Cairo despite the slender aggregate lead.

"It was important to keep a clean sheet at home, and not give them that advantage [of an away goal]," said Tinkler.

"That was our prime objective today, because they're a very good team going forward, and I think we defended exceptionally well.

"I'm happy with the 1-0 win – truth be told – and we've achieved our objective."

The Bucs mentor is now hoping for a repeat defensive performance when they travel to the Suez Canal Stadium next week Sunday.

"Now it's about going there and putting the exact same type of peerfomance we put on here [at home].

"We have that slight advantage that we didn't concede. We have the lead so they ned to come at us.

"When we get opportunities [to score] then we have to obviously punish. We had a few in the second half on the counter-attack but we didn't utilise it. Our final decision was poor again," he added.
